Until ThenNoticing a shift of weight, Lulu's eyes fluttered open to discover Laura not in bed, but playing with dolls on the floor.
"It isn't playtime yet," Lulu sleepily reminded, "It's still dark outside."
"I don't want to sleep," pouted Laura.
Sitting up in their plush, luxuriously enormous bed, Lulu and Laura took turns tenderly brushing each other's soft, fruity hair. Lulu sang nursery rhymes and tied Laura's flowing curls into loose, low pigtails with silk pastel ribbons.
As the soothing early morning rain tumbled down outside their cottage, they snuggled with their fluffy body pillows and lazily swished their smooth legs back and forth between the cool sheets.
When the bright new day began, the barefoot missies held hands and walked around their peaceful butterfly garden in the fresh, glittering rainbow mist, their sleeveless cotton nighties ruffling softly in the gentle morning breeze.
Lulu's tummy rumbled.
After breakfast, Lulu and Laura slipped on their one-pieces and joined all their
Serious Business"Let's be mommies together!" suggested Kelly.
Fresh from their fruity pink bubble bath, Kelly and Dana retrieved their favorite dolls from their bedroom and resumed their girls-only picnic in the garden. There they lounged comfortably on their puffy purple beach blanket, cooing and carefree in their soft cotton sundresses.
At midmorning, they held hands and walked down the wandering country road to a small clearing. Their girlfriends immediately noticed and excitedly welcomed them.
Sitting crisscross applesauce with the other young women for girl time, they all made each other flower crowns, blew dandelion wishes, and read each other their favorite picture books. Everyone hugged, said goodbye, and returned to their cottages for morning tea.
Kelly and Dana rested side by side on their porch swing and shared a great big bowl of sweet, juicy fruit salad. Tummies full, they climbed into their hammock and swayed gently in the lulling, fragrant breeze wafting across the wildflower plains.
